This vocabulary was published two years before the four tomes of Clairac’s General Dictionary of Architecture and Engineering. Its specialisation in road and railway terminology encouraged us to prepare a digital edition.

It is not usually found in bibliographies specialising in historic construction vocabulary, probably because it went largely unnoticed because of its modest edition.

We only know of its authors what can be read on the cover and in the preamble: the vocabulary was drafted by Valeriano José Garcés, who published it from 1866 to his death in 1870 (probably in a periodical). Florencio Gerthen updated it with regards to legislation, increasing it by 700 entries, and it was published in Badajoz in 1875.
