Visit to the Centennial Bridge with Julio Martínez Calzón, filmed on June 25th 2013, duration 13´43´´. Julio Martínez Calzón is a doctor in civil engineering and a lecturer in Mixed Structures at the Madrid School of Engineering. He won the Puente de Alcántara International Award 1990-1992 for the construction project and technical assistance to Norman Foster in the construction of the Colserrolla Tower (Barcelona, 1990), the first in a series of fourteen tall buildings for which Martínez Calzón was responsible for the construction project in the last few years.
For this publication, we also studied documents and films related to the other author of the Centennial Bridge project and construction, José Antonio Fernández Ordóñez. Fernández Ordóñezwas a doctor in civil engineering, a bridge designer and Professor of Engineering History and Design in the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He met and was familiar with Eugène Freyssinet, about whom he wrote a biographic assay. He was chairman of the Prado Museum Trust. He advised Eduardo Chillida in the use of concrete and collaborated with other artists on numerous occasions.
